SILENT LOSAR ; a short movie shot in ‘Bouddha’ in Kathmandu
14 February was the beginning of the Tibetan & Chinese New Year. The Tibetan call it LOSAR. One year ago at this time I was shooting an impression of ‘Silent Lossar’ in the Tibetan area in the city of Kathmandu; called ‘Boddha’.
50 years of living in exile, caused by an invasion by the Chinese government and killing of lots of Tibetan protesters around the same time of of the year in Lhasa in 2008 motivated the Dalai Lama in 2009 to ask Tibetan communities not as always to celebrate the Lossar (New Year), but to keep silent and to pray.
This video is an impression of how ‘Silent Losar’ is held around the ‘Bouddha Stupa’, which is the most important holly place for the Tibetan in exile!
